PET INSURANCE

We pet owners treat our pets like family, so we want to protect them like family. That’s why Pennsylvanians who are thinking about purchasing pet insurance should shop around for the coverage and price that best meets their needs. No two policies are the same and price is just one consideration.
Nearly two dozen insurers offer pet insurance in Pennsylvania, all of which we regulate. All pet insurance rates, rules and policy forms must be submitted to us for review and approval.

Typical pet insurance policies exclude pre-existing conditions and have limits, deductibles and coinsurance provisions. If you are considering buying pet insurance, don’t wait until after your pet gets sick or has an accident!

Pet insurance rates will vary based on items such as the pet’s:

  • The coverage you purchase (e.g. accident only, emergency care only, boarding fees, examination fees, etc.)
  • Limits
  • Deductibles
  • Co-pay / Coinsurance
  • Prior claims history
  • Where you live
  • Whether or not the pet is a service animal
