Consumer Alert: Medicare Card Changes
Medicare is sending out new cards to its beneficiaries. The new card will no longer contain a Social Security Number, but rather a unique number as a new identity protection measure.
Beneficiaries in Pennsylvania should receive their new card between April and June. Upon receiving the new card, beneficiaries should destroy their old card and begin using their new card immediately.
Beneficiaries should also beware of anyone who contacts them about their new Medicare card. Never give out any personal or private information, as Medicare is not requesting this information in order to send a new Medicare card.
Medicare beneficiaries should ensure that their mailing address is up to date. For address changes and other questions, contact Social Security at ssa.gov/myaccount, 1-800-772-1213 or TTY 1-800-325-0778.
