Consumer Alert - Resources for Buying Health Insurance

Insurance Commissioner Teresa Miller is alerting consumers who may need help finding the right health insurance plan that navigators and exchange assisters are available to help at no cost.

Navigators are funded by grants from the federal government and both navigators and exchange assisters are required to be unbiased.

Insurance agents, who work with companies, can also provide guidance in selecting a health insurance plan. Agents can also recommend a specific plan to consumers.

Commissioner Miller is also reminding consumers of the December 15 deadline to enroll in insurance plans through the federal marketplace for coverage effective January 1.

Open enrollment continues through January 31, but in order to have coverage start by January 1, consumers must purchase their plan by December 15.
